The Buzz: Louis Vuitton Journeys to the Moon!

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Looks like star of the next "Core Values" Louis Vuitton Journey spot has been chosen.  They picked another oldie (but goodie!), Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon!  Annie Leibovitz is doing the shoot, and they are headed out to a desert somewhere in the US for the setting.  Apparently, he's gonna be pictured with astronauts Jim Lovell and Sally Ridge.

Notice the trend here since the Aggassis?  Catherine Deneuve (1943), Gorbachev (1931), Keith Richards (1943), Sean Connery (1930), Francis Ford Coppola (1939)- ok, so Sofia was in the shot too... and she's clealy young since she's just a year older than me :) and finally, the youngster of the bunch, Madonna (1958).

Marc and Lorenzo are living the life right now, enjoying their time down in Rio de Jeneiro. They're pictured above after lunch on the way to the Heliport at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

Ironic that Marc's sporting Hermes... and Lorenzo's got the Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse orange day-glow Graffiti Keepall with a Louis Vuitton Graphite Damier Reporter!!

I mean, we were all jealous when our room mate was dating the guy who worked for Frito Lay and so she got free salty snacks!  Just imagine... if your SO was the Creative Director of LV!!

A classic that doesn’t get enough play…

Off the court or on.   I love the Louis Vuitton Epi Speedy.  Such a classic piece, and so versatile and sleek, but super practical and easy to care for as well.

Love that Vanessa Simmons picked this Cassis purple Epi Speedy 30 (such a sweet color!!!) to bring with her to see the NY Knicks play last weekend.  Hope that floor was clean!

That's Spanish actess, Rossy de Palma above!  She's hooked up with Louis Vuitton in support of OrphanAid Africa in the creation of a set of beautiful Louis Vuitton fans.  They were released at an event on March 25 at a Madrid, Spain Louis Vuitton boutique.

OrphanAid Africa is a wonderful non-profit that works to protect orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Ghana, West Africa.  The yellow monogram fan pictured below will be sold at Louis Vuitton boutiques in Spain from March 25 through March 31 only.  Anyone have a favorite aunt living in Barcelona?

Anyway, these pics are Rossy, like you've never seen her before!  They're amazing shots, but I could hardly recognize her, she's been photoshopped to pieces.  She's lost her unique, natural, exotic look.  She's famous for her fabulous nose- where'd it go?

Here are more pics of Rossy from Wire Image where you can see more pics of the fans close-up and you can see Rossy without all the Photoshop.  The yellow one's for sale- the black one is super limited, and will be auctioned off for OrphanAid Africa.

I got a very sweet comment on one of my last blog entries, and this little message was the tender sign-off:

"It was a real pleasure doing business with your company, and if the stock market ever does improve I’ll be back.

Best wishes,

Joanie"

Joanie, Joanie, Joanie!  I am so feeling your pain on this one, sister!

But remember, we are offering a consignment special this month!  Our consignment rate is just 25% through the end of the month... so be sure not to miss it!  At least we can help you cash out the investment you've made for the last few years in all the fab stuff in your closet :)

Nicole Richie Gaga Graffiti Leggings

No doubt about where Nicole's mind was for this magazine shoot for BlackBook.  But it looks like Nicci went neon Green instead of the pink day glow Louis Vuitton Graffiti Leggings that Lady Gaga was sporting the other night outside Hyde!

John Nollet: His own Louis Vuitton Journey

Friday, March 20th, 2009

No, this isn't a spot from Louis Vuitton's award winning Core Values "Journeys" ad campaign... and I don't believe it was even shot by Annie Leibovitz.  But it could have been!?!

Louis Vuitton has partnered up with Park-Hyatt... and this is the first fruit!

This is John Nollet- hair stylist for the stars, and the amazing bespoke monogram trunks that Louis Vuitton created  specially for him- fitted for all things hair!

Louis Vuitton John Nollet Hair trunk

Nollet is the genius behind that amazing shock of black dreds on Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow!   But he is most famous for being responsible for the Amelie bob!

So he's beginning a "Hair Room Service" tour, where he's spending 9 months in different Park Hyatt hotels around the world.  Of course, for a tour like that- he'd need only the best in luxury luggage!  And who does custom luggage like Louis Vuitton?

Anti Counterfeit Sign, Nice

My husband snapped this picture of me at the airport in Nice, France.  The French do not kid around in their anti-counterfeit efforts... and even target those "buying or carrying" fakes!

But, anywho... it must have scared the pants off the couple who was in NYC shopping in the back of a van for some counterfeit bags, when they were all of the sudden sucked into a major NYPD "Fake Bag Sting."

The NYPD Trademark Infringement Unit (I did not know the NYPD had one of those!!!) confiscated 7 vans filled with 2000 fake Louis Vuitton, Coach and Burberry bags with a street value of around $125,000.  Apparently the shoppers were at the very wrong place at just the right moment, and when the fakers realized what was happening, they quickly closed up shop with the shoppers inside.  Oops!

Anyway, the couple got out unharmed... but I bet they'll stick to the real stuff from now on!

Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton Show

That's Marc saying "sayonara" to all the hopeful single men (and women) around the globe.

Rumors had been flying but know it's confirmed:  Marc Jacobs and his ad exec boyfriend, Lorenzo Martone are getting hitched.

Louis Vuitton v. Google

Google Trademark Louis Vuitton Lawsuit

Well, they're back in court again.

Louis Vuitton sued Google because they don't believe that Google has the right to sell its trademarked name to other advertisers that are used in an Internet search.

I blogged about this when it first came down the pike, but the European Union's highest court begain hearing the case today.

Louis Vuitton attorney Patice de Cande said:

“Google’s advertisement activities have given companies which sell fake products unprecedented visibility beyond their wildest dreams!"

Louis Vuitton's done pretty dang well in defending their trademark in the past... and the Paris Central Court already sided with LV when the case began in 2003.  I'm interested to see how this plays out...
