Marc-O, Polo

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

It makes sense... I mean not only is it a super posh sport- but Louis Vuitton owns Veuve Clicquot, the sponsor of the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic in New York.  Marc Jacobs was there to represent, as well as the face of Louis Vuitton again this season, Madonna- with her son David Banda.

Love the bag that LL Cool J's wife Simone Smith picked for the event!  Gold's so hot right now- and the Louis Vuitton Gold Miroir Alma looks fantastic with the rich colors in Simone's Maxi dress!

This bag is very hard to get your hands on... but we've got an authentic, pre-owned  Louis Vuitton Gold Miroir Alma right now on our www.fashionphile.com website.

Be sure to check it out right HERE!

Wish I were there :(

OK, can't complain cause I've just gotten back from an amazing trip to Italy- through Venice & Cince Terra ... but I'm so sad I'm missing this!

The Louis Vuitton “A Passion for Creation” exhibition is now open via the Hong Kong Museum of Art.  In it you'll find works from the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Création.  Of course you'll find pieces from Takashi Murakami, Stephen Sprouse and the whole thing is wrapped in Richard Prince.

I guess it's not over yet... there's still time, if I can just get way before August 9th, 2009.  If you've been... I want to hear about it!

For the first time ever, Louis Vuitton is releasing a bag on its website, www.louisvuitton.com.  Daniel Lalonde, President and CEO of Louis Vuitton North America said of the debut:

"We are thrilled to announce the worldwide exclusive launch of Totally Monogram on louisvuitton.com.  Our on-line business has grown rapidly since we launched the e-commerce portion of our site in November 2007. We are delighted to be able to offer louisvuitton.com clients the exclusive opportunity to purchase this exciting new product prior to its debut in our retail stores."

What a brilliant PR move, as a way to remind its loyal shoppers- remember, from this day on- shop vuitton.com (not eLuxury.)

No “Cannes” Do

Louis Vuitton Black Epi Cannes

Louis Vuitton Black Epi Cannes

(Gotta apologize in advance for one of the most seriously lame puns I've pulled so far in this blog-- which is saying something, cause I've pulled some bad ones!)

But the festivities at the Cannes Film Festival this year are seriously toned down.  Louis Vuitton  has pulled out of the AmFar fundraiser, Fendi's isn't coming, Sworovski's isn't either, and the big Vanity Fair party isn't happening.  Overall spending is down 25-30%.

But it's still going to be more glamorous than any events mere mortals ever attend.  Take this quote from Forbes for an example:

Two guests have reportedly paid 36,000 euros a night each for the penthouse suites at the top of the Hotel Martinez, which has been fully booked since February for all 12 days of the event. The hotel confirmed the rooms had been booked but would not confirm the amount paid.

Yeah, maybe Cannes could use a little toning down.

Chalk one up for eBay

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

eBay may have lost the Hermes case and the Louis Vuitton case and the Rolex case...  but it seems they've turned a corner.

After winning against Tiffany & Company here in the US last year, it looks like they've finally won their first case on French soil.  A French court ruled that eBay would not be held liable for the sale of fake L'Oreal on their site.  In fact, the court determined that eBay acted "in good faith" in its efforts to rid the marketplace of fakes.  The court suggested that rights owners and internet retailers attack the counterfeit problem in"'close collaboration".

It doesn't look liket L'Oreal's going to appeal the French ruling, but they've still got open lawsuits against eBay UK & Germany.

Hey, we want the fakes off the site as much as anyone.  But, come on luxury... sought after brands out there- you've got to recognize that the ability to resell what we buy benefits you in several ways.

1)  We'll pay more than we ordinarily would (we'll sell it later- it's an investment)

2)  Items with better resale value are thought to be more valuable

3)  If I can resell something that I bought a while ago, it frees up cash for me to be buy more

Sometimes I just love Judge Judy: LV Coat Check Drama

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Don't know what the fact (or supposition) that the guy is gay has to do it... so the title's a bit offensive. But I think a JJ fan posted this, not Judge Judy herself...

The video isn't offensive at all... it's just good, clean fun!

Beyonce’s Louis Vuitton Patchwork Tribute gifted?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I know, I know... supposedly, Louis Vuitton doesn't do that.

But, Beyonce was one of the 5 US and 24 worldwide lucky ladies (or gents, I suppose) who got one of the infamous Louis Vuitton Patchwork Tribute bags... remember?  The ones that cost $52,000?

Well, I thought these were interesting quotes from Beyonce in UK Glamour:

"I probably get about 15 bags sent to me a month. Armani gave me this croc bag, which was huge - I could only imagine how much that thing cost. It would be so expensive that even I wouldn't buy it.

"There are some bags that are pretty hot. But then I haven't bought myself a Hermes Birkin bag because I think they are just too expensive."

So was the Tribute gifted from Louis Vuitton?  I mean, a non-exotic Hermes Birkin is almost cheap in comparison.

And, BTW... Beyonce, if you're reading this.  Why not get rid of some of that baggage?  You know we'd love to help you do it!  You're not hurting for cash- but if you want to donate the proceeds to charity, we can help you there too!

Not exactly fan mail from Louis Vuitton

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Dear Editor:

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct the confusion.

Sincerely,

Michael D. Pantalony, Esq.
Louis Vuitton Malletier

We've said it before, unless what you're wearing is authentic... Louis Vuitton will come down on you.  Remember Ruben Studdard, Britney Spears, Jim Jones, Da Brat, Danity Kane (need I go on?)

Advice, getting the cover is cool... if you've got the opportunity for that kind of publicity and want to wear some killer shades... go to the Louis Vuitton boutique.  If you don't want to spend that kind of cash, come to Fashionphile for a sweet pair of authentic pre-owned Louis Vuitton, or Chanel etc. etc sunglasses for less than retail!
