Significance behind my choice of these two beautiful Louis Vuitton bags, anyone?

It seems that everyone’s taking about the sad state of the world economy… and about how even luxury brands are being hit.  But with all this talk, did you know that there’s one market that is actually weathering the economic storm quite well?  The Secondary Market!!!

Notice the “Google News” titles above, “Bad Economy OK for Consignments,” “Consignment Business Booming in Charlotte,” “Secondhand Merchandise is Up in a Down Economy.”

I mean, I know you’ve heard me say this before- but honestly… buying used is the “new” new!!!  Not only is it a green choice (reuse is a better use of our resources than even recycling!!!), but it’s less painful on the pocketbook!

When money gets tight, a lot of folks are trying to figure out how to make some more cash.  One way to come up with it is to take a look around the house at any items of value that aren’t being used.  Just post those things on eBay or Criagslist or  Fashionphile- and voilà … easy money!

We see this everyday now here at Fashionphile!  We are able to not only able to help liquidate the capital from the virtual bank vaults that are some of our client’s closets… but we’re able to sell those bags to folks who used to buy full retail back when times were fat.  Everyone’s looking for a bargain now.  So if the choice is buying no-name or even lower branded new bags, or scarcely worn pre-owned luxury handbags… the answer’s an easy one!

So, go ahead.  Sell a bag.  Buy a bag.  Whatever, but just remember… used is the new new!

We’re only about 1.3 miles up the road from our old office- so you’d think it would be a breeze of a move! But, whew!!!

The last few weeks in December are typically some of our slowest, so we used the time to move up the road.  We’re totally excited- as it’s a much bigger place, in a really fun location!  We’re on the corner of Rodeo Drive and Wilshire- right behind the Rodeo Louis Vuitton.

But, come on over!  We’re still moving in, so pardon our dust- but come drop off some bags and check out all of the fabulous stuff in our “Showroom”.  (You can see all of the incredible bags we’ve got online at www.fashionphile.com and on eBay displayed here “in real life”!)  (Be sure to check the website for our new address, phone numbers, etc.)

Obviously, some of the most amazing shopping destinations in the world are right next door- so be sure to have a few hours to blow, even just for window shopping and people watching!  Be sure to check out the Rodeo Drive Louis Vuitton Boutique, browse the ice at Tiffany & Company and drop by the Grill for lunch.  Then, call it a day!

There’s free valet parking for two hours right across the street at the Via Rodeo Shopping Center.  It’s such a cute little area, you’re gonna love it.  There’s also street parking on Dayton Way- and some on Rodeo if you can get it!

• Freedom from Fear

Be sure to check them all out!  Again- if you missed the announcement.  Every single one of the auctions that we posted last Monday night began at 99¢ and we let them go without a reserve.  That means, they all start at 99¢ and will sell to the highest bidder for whatever amount you want to pay.  It’s perfect for Christmas shopping in these turbulent economic times!

We’re going to do one of these at least twice a year- but you may not see another for another 6 months.  Some of our loyal buyers are going to end up with bags at ending prices that are literally hundreds of dollars less than we’d normally hold out for.

Christmas is around the corner, and the economy is down the tubes!  But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get that fabulous authentic Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Marc Jacobs (etc. etc.) handbag you’ve had your eye on!

This week only, we have posted ALL of our eBay auctions this week as 99¢ NO reserve auctions.  We start them out and then just let them go.  We got a few of our regular consignors to agree to the sale- and the rest are things that we’ve purchased outright.  I’m feeling a little nostalgic, because those of you who have been with me for years, know that we only started using reserves a few years ago.  We were ALL no reserves for years before that!

Like the authentic pre-owned Louis Vuitton Richard Prince Graduate jokes bag pictured above?  It’s currently up only up to $721 on eBay- no reserve.  Naturally, we hope it goes higher- but we’re letting it go for what YOU think it’s worth!

Reuter’s announced yesterday that Recycled (pre-owned) is the way to go in a down economy… and we couldn’t agree more!   Don’t miss our auctions this week.

Well, exciting times at Fashionphile!  My sister and brother in law- Emily and Ben (if you’ve ever emailed us or consigned through us- you know them- my business partners) welcomed little baby (fill in the blank… they haven’t got a name yet but are open to suggestions if you’ve got a good one beginning in the letter “B”!) into the world yesterday afternoon.

Emily’s doing great and baby is healthy and happy, so all’s well!

In the mean time, the rest of us have got to step it up as Emily does a ton around here!!!  I’m just hoping she’ll pull a Palin and will be back in the office in 3 days! (Kidding Emily!)
