Look at what a Birkin will do for you!  I mean, honestly, what a lovely picture- it’s a 100% improvement!  (Check out more pics from the spread on the “Royal” Ronson’s from this month’s Harper’s Bazaar.)

Don’t we all need the same boost?  Carrying a Birkin really does make you feel like more than a mere mortal.  It’s such a stunning Iconic piece.

If you’re in the market for a Hermes Birkin- you’ve come to the right place…  We have a GORGEOUS absolutely authentic pre-owned white Hermes Birkin 35 on eBay right now.  You know you can’t just walk in to Hermes and pick one of these up.  If you’re into instant gratification- get this one whTake a look:

Julia’s Paper Kelly

 Julia's Paper Hermes Birkin

Yeah… so Julia was waiting for Jesse to get done taking pictures today, and I guess she was a little bored.  Luckily, Hermes still has the “Make your own Kelly” pattern and directions on the Hermes.com website.

Paper Kelly Hermes

So, she whipped up the little paper Kelly above!  Jesse was still taking pictures when she’d finished, so I had him snap one of her adorable creation for me to share!

eBay fined in Hermes Counterfeit Case

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Wow.  This could end up being costly to eBay.

It looks like a French court found eBay guilty of selling three counterfeit Hermes handbags and ordered them (and the woman who listed the bags) to pay $30,000 dollars in damages to Hermes.  Not only that- but (and this is my favorite part of the ruling)… they are required to POST the ruling on the eBay France website for three months!!!

Hermes attorney’s went for it bigtime, and weren’t mincing words.  Attorney Emmanuel Colomes said of eBay,

“We are satisfied that they should be considered counterfeiters”

And apparently, the court agreed.  The ruling said:

“By selling Hermes bags and branded accessories on the eBay.fr site, and by failing to act within their powers to prevent reprehensible use of the site,” (the woman who listed the fakes and eBay) “committed acts of counterfeiting and imitation of French brand names … to the detriment of Hermes international,”

Hmmm….  This just makes me think of the ongoing Tiffany & Company and Louis Vuitton v. eBay cases.   Tiffany & Co. is a US case, I believe.  But, LV also filed in France.  French courts are MUCH more protective of the rights owners and distribution rights etc. of players in the fashion industry than we are here in the US.

Louis Vuitton Hermes Martha Stewart
(Martha Stewart and her Birkin…)

It’s been floating around- but Bloomberg reported today that there is some speculation that a bid from LVMH may be one factor behind the recent boost in Hermes stock.

Excess Baggage…

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

**

Love this article from today’s Wall Street Journal about the huge bags everyone is wearing!

It made me think of the fab Red Hermes Birkin that Katie Holmes carried while Christmas shopping this year.

I love this quote from the article referring to a New York chiropractor/ American Chiropractic Association spokesperson:

Karen Erickson… estimates that the number of purse-related injuries and sprains she treats has risen 30% in the past year.

No wonder… ARGH, my aching back!!!

** By the way, Katie’s Birkin is actually a travel bag- but maybe she’s using it as a shopping tote- (ya know, the environmentally friendly alternative to those pesky plastic shopping bags!)

If you’re looking for one cheaper than retail… do I have the tip for you! We had the chance to meet a client of ours- Francis Elisio, who owns Des-Voyages in the fabulous antique district/ flea market in Paris this Christmas. This is NOT your grandmother’s flea market. There was literally stall after stall of authentic vintage Louis Vuitton and Hermes, Chanel etc! Walls lined in trunks and travel bags. It was amazing.

Check out his stuff here: Des Voyages.  If you are in the neighborhood- drop on by!  Tell him your friends at FASHIONPHILE sent you, and see if he as any of our trunks on stock!!!

Birkin or Plastic?

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Let’s just say for argument’s sake that you were a famous NY socialite, who spends all your time and an unbelieveable amount of money- on numerous charities of your choice. And let’s just say for fun, that you were married to an heir to the Hermés family fortune! Would there be any question as to what kind of bag you’d carry?

Well, here’s socialite Valesca Guerrand-Hermés (who wouldn’t take on her husband’s name, with a name like Hermes!!!) carrying of all things, Anya Hindmarch’s funny little “I am not a Plastic Bag” tote.

Valesca's bag

Anya sold them in the UK for £5.00 a piece and sold out- all 10,000 of them- in 90 minutes! They’re currently selling on eBay for upwards of £200! ($400 for us Yanks!!!) She’s releasing them in the US on May 7 for $15 each but don’t bother trying your local AH store- there WERE preorders, but they’ve totally sold out. If you really want one, go to the website and sign up for their newsletter- they’ll let you know how to get one when they land in the US. I guess they’re hot ’cause they’re dual purposed- really cool, and can save you from using a bunch of plastic bags that you don’t need….

I mean, it REALLY says something when a member of the Hermés family is sporting one! I guess, I have to disclose that she IS wearing it at an Environmental Luncheon at NYC’s Museum of Natural History… so she probably couldn’t pull off a crododile Birkin- but still!

Of course our favorite way to do our little part in savng the environment… is buying and selling “pre-owned” luxury! Buying luxe, quality bags is a smart choice- they hold up and keep their value, so they can be sold or passed on. What’s more environmentally friendly and conserves more energy that recycling? Re-Using, but I digress!!!
