Decorate with Louis Vuitton: Marc Jacobs does it too

Marc Jacobs decorating

I like to blog about decorating with Louis Vuitton trunks- and I've got a really cool blog I'm working on now about that... but I found this little article about Marc Jacobs' Paris apartment on Decorno- a decorating blog.  The pics are from November 2000 Homes and Gardens...

I couldn't tell if MJ was decorating with his Louis Vuitton monogram luggage- or if it's like our shoe pile.  Just a stack of stuff he's chucked there after coming in the front door.

Be sure to check out Decorno for more pics of MJ's place...

Louis Vuitton Poker Set

The Huffington Post's attributing Louis Vuitton's custom Damier Poker Set to "Embracing a Popular Recession Era Pastime". (Everything pointing to the down economy- even multi-thousand dollar game boards.)

I have no idea if that's what it's about- and I'm no gambler (have never played poker in my life).  But this case is making me pine for a 'lil 'round the Christmas Tree family game of Texas Hold 'em!

Louis Vuitton Cake Trunk

Forget cake!  (Although, as you see above, Louis Vuitton has made special order trunks especially for transporting cakes!)

In these desperate times- I love the sentiment.  I mean, Louis Vuitton only does special order trunks for things (or critters) that need to be moved.  So next time your friends are getting together for hors d'oeuvres, you'll be able to haul your finest Almas Caviar along in its own custom fitted Louis Vuitton Taiga Carrying Case (complete with serving spoon, plates, and individual caviar spoons).  Again, as the market continues to sour, Louis Vuitton clearly says, "what economic meltdown?"

Katherine Dunham

You know, the Show Me State!  There's an amazing Katherine Dunham: Beyond the Dance exhibit that just opened at the Missouri History Museum.   They have one of her vintage Louis Vuitton shoe trunks on display.

It's well traveled and you can just see that it's got stories to tell.  I'd have loved to see it filled with her beautiful dance shoes!  Read more about her amazing life HERE.

Christina Agulara's trunks

Love her website!  Christina Aguilera has a thing for vintage Louis Vuitton trunks & hard cases.  We're just upset that she doesn't have the Damier Alzer 70 that she (well, actually- her assistant) bought from us here at FASHIONPHILE as an organizing tool for her closet!

Christina- we still have 4 more left from that set, if you're still interested!  We'll give you a nice deal!

 Hotel Pand, Bruges Belgium

Wow.  Not only is The Pand Hotel in just about the cutest town you'll find in this part of Europe (Bruges, Belgium- think cobblestone streets, cool little stone bridges & canals- cute shops and cafes... adorable!) but the owners of this little luxury hotel have quite the antique Louis Vuitton trunk and hard case collection- and they are scattered throughout the hotel.

... in bedrooms, like the one pictured above and below.

... and with stacks of suitcases in the lobby:

I love what vintage Louis Vuitton can do for a room- and it so works in this hotel.  I am writing this into my Rick Steve's Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels guide- as a reminder. Don't want to miss it if I get the chance!

Check out The Pand Hotel website- pictures and video.  It's an amazing little hotel!

As long as we’re talking decorating with Louis Vuitton

You know the Seinfeld episode where they talked about Bad Naked?  Well my last blog post pretty much talked about Bad Decorating with LV.

Even though authentic Louis Vuitton monogram throw pillows look tasteful on a simple couch at a LV Boutique- the same pillow on the same couch in a home just would not look classy.   IMO unless it's vintage, travel oriented, or an interesting collectible (think LV monogram soccer ball on a book shelf in a traditional home library or a framed scarf), monogram just has no place in any decorating scheme unless you're working for the company.

I've blogged a ton about how amazing and interesting Louis Vuitton CAN look in a house, apartment or office. Look for my old posts on Kanye's Office and entry way, Eva Longoria's closet, and Tommy Hilfiger's living room, to name a few.  But here are a couple more recent examples...

This one was from March/April's Mountian Living Magazine.  It's a den in Christopher Coffin's (Christopher K. Coffin Design) home.  See the table trunk on the lower left?  That is actually one of John F. Kennedy's old Louis Vuitton monogram suitcases.  Gorgeous.  It is such an interesting addition to the room- totally adds to the overall look.  (As does the Hermes throw on the leather chair beside it :) )  A what a fantastic conversation piece.

And the Napa Valley, getaway retreat of the inspiring Ken Fulk was profiled in House Beautiful this month- July 2008.  I love his Louis Vuitton vintage suitcase stack, side table!

I love it!  If you do too... check out the Louis Vuitton Damier set that we have right listed on eBay right now that would look incredible in any decorating situation!

Damier Hard Cases

We've got other pieces that would also look great... like the Louis Vuitton Monogram Alzer 70, Monogram Alzer 80, and the Monogram Boite Flacons beauty case.  I need a picture of those three in a stack!!!

Louis Vuitton Book Encyclopedia Trunk

(from www.vintageluggage.net)

Uh, yeah... with Wikipedia and Google, who needs an Encyclopedia?

I guess, I do, if it comes with this amazing monogram Louis Vuitton custom circa 1900 antique book trunk.

Now that’s a “trunk” show!

 Louis Vuitton antique trunks
(Richard Carson, Carson Photos)

OK... I am totally loving this trunk show in the home of Lisa and Agbo Abiola.   Louis Vuitton  brought in dozens of  vintage trunks, as well as great new limited edition bags and clothes.  The event in honor of the Abiola Initiative: raising money for Music Education.  Check the Houston Chronicle Blog on the show for more pictures of bags etc.

My favorite?  Does it get cuter than the Abiola kids in a Louis Vuitton watercolor speedy and ostrich frame bag?  I'm loving the poses...
