I always fall for the Louis Vuitton charity auction- customized trunk thing... This one is for the 150th aniversary of the Red Cross. They've picked six designers and will auction off their six custom trunks with a little help from Sothebys. Love the one that artist Damien Hirst created above- a medical supply trunk above... Love the "red cross" details!!!
The trunk below was done by our very own Marc Jacobs... It's his doggie trunk! Obviously this isn't for your little lap dog- the one that fits in your bag! This is for his two massive boxers... living in th lap of luxury!
This is the custom trunk of Gustavo Santaolalla (he did the music for Babel and Brokeback Mountain)- for a Lute? Or some other stringed contraption....
Love this one from Louis Vuitton Patrick-Louis Vuitton. He's not only one of Louis Vuitton's descendants and the guy in charge of LV Special Orders- but he's a painter- and so designed a special trunk for his brushes and watercolors!
And this one is the custom backpack camera bag of famed photog and Louis Vuitton favorite, Annie Leibovitz...
Love creative ways to raise money for a good cause!
Well, 15% off at least all purchases made on their www.louisvuitton.com website on April 22 will be donated to The Climate Project (no mention of Eluxury.com which makes some sense, since LV is phasing off of sales on eLuxury.). President and CEO of Louis Vuitton North America, Daniel Lalonde said:
"We are thrilled to collaborate with The Climate Project and promote environmental awareness in honor of Earth Day. Over the past few years Louis Vuitton has voluntarily made efforts to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. In addition we are proud to be able to support The Climate Project in its inspiring quest to raise awareness of the climate crisis."
Louis Vuitton's been involved with The Climate Project since 2007 when they began donating as part of the Core Values Campaign. Along with the fab Annie Leibovitz Core Values spots so far, LV has donated in the name of Catherine Deneuve, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Keith Richards, Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola, Sean Connery and coming soon... Buzz Aldrin?
Looks like star of the next "Core Values" Louis Vuitton Journey spot has been chosen. They picked another oldie (but goodie!), Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon! Annie Leibovitz is doing the shoot, and they are headed out to a desert somewhere in the US for the setting. Apparently, he's gonna be pictured with astronauts Jim Lovell and Sally Ridge.
Notice the trend here since the Aggassis? Catherine Deneuve (1943), Gorbachev (1931), Keith Richards (1943), Sean Connery (1930), Francis Ford Coppola (1939)- ok, so Sofia was in the shot too... and she's clealy young since she's just a year older than me and finally, the youngster of the bunch, Madonna (1958).
The whispers are that Louis Vuitton has picked original 007, Sean Connery to glam for Annie Leibovitz’s cam in its latest "Core Values" campaign.
You remember the campaign... the one that featured Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola just a few months ago, and got major buzz from spots with Keith Richards and Mikhail Gorbachev in the past?
It looks like the Hangzhou Boutique was closed because,
"three Vuitton products sampled were considered to not be in accordance with the QB/T1333-2004 standard due to lack of material samples on them."
So in response, authorities "confiscated" 556 Louis Vuitton bags. Hmmm... Yeah, I'll bet those Administration of Industry and Commerce agents were just hating that job.
We're hoping that this is resolved quickly so the Hangzhou Boutique can open it's doors once again.
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a really cool layout with Milla Jovovich and her fiance, Paul W.S. Anderson for the very cool higher end luxury Samsonite luggage line, Black Label. Norman Jean Roy, took the pics- and they are right off Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles...
It's just that the whole Samsonite Black Label- "Life's a Journey" tag line reminds me an awful lot of the award winning Louis Vuitton Core Values "Journeys" series- photographed by Annie Leibovitz.
I mean, I guess it makes sense when you're talking Travel that you'd talk about the Journey, it's just that the feel is a little close. Just saying...
(Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola for Louis Vuitton Journeys: "Inside Every Story, There's a Beautiful Journey)
The Times Online Fashion Department asked Sophia why she agreed to do the Annie Leobovitz X Louis Vuitton Core Values- Journeys ad spot with her father Francis Ford Coppola:
I liked the ad Annie shot with Keith Richards. It was flattering to be asked. Plus I've known Marc Jacobs since I was 18. We had mutual friends and started hanging out together. I remember asking my mom to take me to see Perry Ellis when he was designing there. I still have a box of clothes from that grunge collection somewhere. It's great to work with Annie - she did a good portfolio on the set of Marie Antoinette. She just selects one picture and then shows it to you. But I think that's good. My dad and I were both like, yeah, whatever you want, this is your shoot. On your own set you want it exactly your own way, but we can get with someone else's vision too.
and:
Obviously I love Marc Jacobs and Acne jeans which I wear all the time. Today I'm wearing a little knitted dress from See by Chloé, flat wedges from Louboutin. Really I should be wearing Vuitton, but I'm actually not that into status, although I have a little LV duffle bag that I travel with.
Not that it matters, but I was just noticing the difference between the Annie Lebovitz/ Keith Richards spot for Louis Vuitton- on the website... and the one they put up on the billboards and in magazines.
Don't know why they cleaned up the guitar case- but gotta love photoshop!
As we've known since back in April... there's major buzz going around that Annie Lebovitz was down in Argentina shooting Sofia and her Francis Ford Coppola for the upcoming Core Values/ Journey's Campaign for Louis Vuitton.
Well, at the Louis Vuitton blogger's breakfast last Thursday, The Director of Advertising, Eric Lichtmess revealed that a "couple" would be featured in the next instillation of the Journey's Campaign.
So the bloggers may have gotten a hot new tip- and there's another couple up the pike (they already did an amazing spread on Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff).
Or... Sofia and Francis Ford are the "couple".
Was Lichtmess just trying to make our bloggers feel "in the loop", when he's already dished out the real scoop to Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, WWD and other more mainstream media outlets over a month ago?
