Bid on our Handbags for Haiti

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

handbagsforhaiti

It's hard to know what to do right now- the images we see on TV and the internet of the devastation in Haiti are just heart wrenching.

We thought we'd start out by donating a bag- the Louis Vuitton Monogram Vertical Lockit that we just listed on eBay 100% to the American Red Cross.  We're also donating 10% of every other bag that we've listed on eBay (think Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Bottega Veneta...) this week to the American Red Cross.

We're doing it on eBay, cause they've got a program where they automatically take those funds- and we don't have to worry about the logistics of getting the money to the right people.  The American Red Cross automatically gets the money at the close of the auctions.

Keep watching our blog- cause I'm going to be adding more information on how you can help out.  We'll be listing items free of charge (we charge no commission- keep no funds) if you have a luxury pre-owned bag you'd like to donate to the cause....

Naomi Campbell & Louis Vuitton Fight Maternal Mortality

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Naomi Campbell Louis Vuitton

Naomi Campbell's using her pull with old pal Marc Jacobs (I did NOT know that she started modeling for him when she was 16!) to do some inspiring work!  They've developed fabulous collaboration with Louis Vuitton that will benefit the "White Ribbon Alliance"- a group that works to fight maternal mortality.  (Did you know that "every minute of every day, a woman dies of pregnancy related complications, totaling more than one half million women each year"?  Check the White Ribbon website- it's compelling!).

Naomi picked a Louis Vuitton bag that will sell with a portion going to the White Ribbon Alliance.   The name of the bag hasn't been released yet, but WWD describes it as a "Soft, square style, its signature canvas stitched in strips atop metallic leather."  Sounds lovely!  It will retail for $2,789 this March- and will be released in junction with the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day.

I love this.  I hope they sell a ton of these bags- and that the White Ribbon Alliance gets a real boost!  We need to do what we can to help stop maternal deaths!  Nice that buying a fabulous bag is playing a part!

Louis Vuitton Christmas Tree

I'm so loving the creations for this year's "Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs" charity auction in Paris.   Forty-four amazing Christmas trees were auctioned off for €101,000 towards building a house in Togo for children orphaned by AIDS.  The Louis Vuitton and Gucci are my favs... but the Chanel tree was pretty cool too.

Check them out!

Louis Vuitton X Nakata = LE Louis Vuitton Charity Graphite Damier

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Hidetoshi Nakata
(Nakata at a Louis Vuitton Ready to Wear show, October 2006)

They call him the David Beckham of Japan. (Never heard? Take a look). He's not only about as hot as you can get, is a super talented footballer, and a big fan Louis Vuitton (and fashion in general) but he's got a big heart for charity.

He managed to get Louis Vuitton to host a charity auction for his Take Action 2008 effort to make a contribution in the world.

Louis Vuitton Graphite Football Trunk
(From Mitsuzi Aoyama's blog here. The pictures from the event are all his...)

So Louis Vuitton did what Louis Vuitton does best: designed an AMAZING limited edition graphite damier hard trunk carrying case for a limited edition football (soccer ball for we yanks!). They offer this as well as a bunch of other graphite, multicolore trunks/ cases... (I'd love more details from someone who was there...)

Jordan’s Make A Wish Shopping NYC Spree

Make a Wish Jordan shopping

(Jordan's Make a Wish Shopping Spree)

What a great story...  There's a seventeen year old Arizona boy named Jordan who has been diagnosed with autoimmune deficiency syndrome.  So, the Make a Wish Foundation gets involved- you know, the organization that steps in to "grant wishes" for children with life threatening illnesses.  Jordan's only wish?

“I wish to have a fashion shopping spree in New York City.”

I love it!  I mean, check out the ear to ear smile on Jordan's face...

Neiman Marcus and the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall got involved and threw him a pre-NY send-off party, a tour of his favorite stores (see him trying on a Louis Vuitton Montsouris GM backpack above)- and showered him with gifts.  Then he got a fancy lunch and the next week he flew to NYC for his trip.   Read his story here...

His face says it all...  If his story has inspired you to donate to the Make a Wish Foundation... click here.
