Friday, May 15th, 2009

We'll, clearly it's been going on for sometime now, but from today onward... If you're looking for brand new, authentic Louis Vuitton, you will no loner be shopping for it on Eluxury.com, but on www.louisvuitton.com.

Of course, if it's pre-owned authentic Louis Vuitton... priced at less than retail, well then your at the right place!  Fashionphile.com :)

Totally Monogram Tote Exclusively on LouisVuitton.com

Friday, May 15th, 2009

For the first time ever, Louis Vuitton is releasing a bag on its website, www.louisvuitton.com.  Daniel Lalonde, President and CEO of Louis Vuitton North America said of the debut:

"We are thrilled to announce the worldwide exclusive launch of Totally Monogram on louisvuitton.com.  Our on-line business has grown rapidly since we launched the e-commerce portion of our site in November 2007. We are delighted to be able to offer louisvuitton.com clients the exclusive opportunity to purchase this exciting new product prior to its debut in our retail stores."

What a brilliant PR move, as a way to remind its loyal shoppers- remember, from this day on- shop vuitton.com (not eLuxury.)

Louis Vuitton moving back home

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

It makes sense.

Louis Vuitton is finally moving all of its online boutique from eLuxury to www.louisvuitton.com on May 15.

This wasn't forced because of the economy or anything even to do with eLuxury in particular.  Louis Vuitton just likes to be able to run their own show.  They always have.

Having all of their beautiful things at eLuxury was kind of like an online version of an "instore boutique" (think LV in Bloomies, or Neiman Marcus/ Saks etc.)  I can't believe it took this long for them to move it all to the Online Flagship!

Elux Redux

There have been rumors for a while, but WWD is reporting that an Eluxury spokesperson has confirmed that they will be closing the retail function of one of our favorite websites, ELuxury.com.  Yep, that's right.  A mere six months from now, Elux will have been fully transformed into a fashion magazine- and will no longer be an ecommerce retail site showcasing some of our favorite labels.

Apparantly, this change is not due to sluggish sales- but because most of the brands they sell have their own successful online boutiques.   It makes sense to me.  Shopping Louis Vuitton or Dior on Eluxury doesn't have the same integrated look and feel as it does at their own websites.

Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM

A thoughtful eBayer asked this question about the fabulous pre-owned authentic Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM that we had listed on eBay last week.

Dear fashionphile,

This Manhattan Handbag is not an Authentic Louis Vuitton...the logos don't match up on the front. Compare it to picture of the Manhattan PM on eLuxury.

I thought this was a great question- and one that deserved a response on the blog.

And here is the picture from Eluxury that she is referring to:

Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM

Check out the pockets on the front... the monogram placement on those flaps, and below the gold-tone closure. Now compare that to the placement of the "LV"s in picture above of the authentic Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM that we sold last week.

Notice the centered "LV" between the handles on the eLux photo... it's much lower than the "LV" is on the bag that we listed.

There are other subtle differences between these two bags. The Elux bag has a longer canvas section above the pockets... Indeed, it is a taller bag in general, if you count the rows of toile monogram.

So what gives?

I have no idea why... could be that Louis Vuitton sometimes uses photos of the original prototypes in these pictures, or that they're trying to throw off counterfeiters, or that they're trying to make it harder for re-sellers. All I know is that there have always been pictoral and descriptive inconsistencies between the products produced by Louis Vuitton and the representation of those items on Eluxury or www.louisvuitton.com.

Uma Thurman Louis Vuitton

Notice the advertising spots Louis Vuitton put out of Uma Thurman with the Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM. (Looks a lot more like the picture of the bag we sold than the one pictured on Eluxury & vuitton.com).

Uma Thurman Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM

The Louis Vuitton Manhattan PM that Louis Vuitton makes, that you'll find at their boutiques, or at Saks/Neimans or on eLuxury, looks like the authentic Manhattan PM that we sold last week- and the one in the Uma pictures... not like what you'll find pictured on Louis Vuitton's websites.

I'll do more blog posts on other inconsistencies between items that you'll see on Louis Vuitton Le Catalogue, eLuxury and www.louisvuitton.com and what you'll find in the boutique.

(Just know this... if you bought it from us, it's authentic. We offer a 100% money back- plus shipping both ways- guarantee. You don't have to worry.)

Eluxury's New Look

Eluxury used to be just a simple, clean, classy website... but it looks like they wanted to join all the fun.

What do you think?

Louis Vuitton, “Bill Me Later”

Bill Me Later Louis Vuitton Eluxury Payments

Wow. Eluxury is now offering the "Bill Me Later" method of payment.

As in, buy any item on Elux that is valued at $250 or more (basically, practically any Louis Vuitton item) and you don't have to pay for 90 days. That's right... they send you a bill... and you don't have to pay a darned thing for 90 days.

I mean, it sounds like the sales pitch for a cheap furniture company, but it just might do the trick in this lagging economy. You can read more about the "Bill Me Later" service here.
