Please excuse the blast from the past Duran, Duran reference… but I’m loving this fabulous Black leather “Rio” clutch from Jimmy Choo. Victoria looks so hot- from head to foot. I mean, we all love Jimmy Choo shoes- but he really nailed it in the handbag department with this one. I love a good shoulder bag, but you can also wear it like Posh does- as a clutch.
Either way, we can help you “Wear what she’s wearing”…
Oh, so interesting. So will the Louis Vuitton multicolore be just standard issue, or limited edition Murakami Brooklyn Museum specials? We’ll have to see.
I referenced the Excess Baggage blog in my last post- but you gotta check out his blog entry on the Richard Prince Bread Clip necklace! He’s got great pictures… and good info.
As you well know- I love the history and meaning behind so much of what comes out of Louis Vuitton. This is what I find timeless about the brand in general.
I’d been wanting to write about the history about the striped Tanger- and in my search for images actually found another great blog entry on the same subject in the Excess Baggage blog by Deluxe Duck… be sure to check it out!
(The personal bag of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, 1901 from Pasol’s, Louis Vuitton)
(An early prototype of the Keepall- 1930, again with Gaston’s initial, from Pasol’s, Louis Vuitton)
The Louis Vutton striped Tanger Sac Plat borrows it’s central, geometric “V” initial from Gaston’s early monogram. It has the red center on the V on a white background. Mini Lin Tanger Sac Plat bags (Ebene and Camel) will borrow the blue center, with light blue- not white.
The unique striped fabric that makes up the exterior of this particular Sac Plat is reminiscent of early trunk lining. (You’ll find similar striped linings in the Sac Trianon line- and including the Trianon Neverfull.
The striped Tanger Sac Plat is no longer available in stores. It was a S/S 2005 men’s bag- so they’re hard to get your hands on. Lucky for you, we happen to have one of these amazing limited edition pieces on eBay right now!
Here’s a little something for those of us who couldn’t attend. Does Louis Vuitton know how to throw a party or what. Here are some great pictures from the folks at Hong Kong Hustle, who were there! Take a look at their blog for a ton more pictures!!! The following pictures are theirs-
Just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it. It should. Louis Vuitton is opening its flagship store in the famous shopping Canton Road. It’s the largest in the world, outside of Paris.
It’s HUGE! Four levels- 1749 square meters. That’s 18,826.23 square feet! What a fantastic way to get a workout… walk laps, do stairs. Who needs the gym?
I’m dying to see it. I’ll post pictures of Friday night’s opening celebration as soon as I get them. Kanye West, Chow Yun Fat, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Marc Jacobs and Chinese Supermodel Du Juan were there.
Who knows what the heck Murakami’s new Monogram Camouflage or Monogramouflage or Monouflage or Monoflage (I’ve seen it spelled all three ways!) is going to look like. The picture above is a Murakami Camo- but his Louis Vuitton collaboration will be a camo line in Monogram- so we’ll just have to see. All we can be sure of right now is that it’s going to be hot!
Here’s what you need to know:
The @Murakami Exhibit that I’ve blogged about ad nauseum will open to the public at the Brooklyn Museum on April 5
Louis Vuitton will again “open shop” there.
There will be multicolor monogram handbags and small leather goods
There will be limited edition art canvasses also for sale that feature the new “Monogramouflage” design
At the museum, they will be previewing this new Louis Vuitton collection the night of the April 3 Gala
Murakami also promised, “I will be introducing new characters”
The line will then launch at the Brooklyn store beginning June 1
This line will be sold at a select number of Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide starting June 15
At the Gala, in addition to a performance by Kanye West, there will be a special performance in an effort to raise awareness of the international problem of counterfeits…
As in, buy any item on Elux that is valued at $250 or more (basically, practically any Louis Vuitton item) and you don’t have to pay for 90 days. That’s right… they send you a bill… and you don’t have to pay a darned thing for 90 days.
I mean, it sounds like the sales pitch for a cheap furniture company, but it just might do the trick in this lagging economy. You can read more about the “Bill Me Later” service here.
