You may have seen Kanye’s relatively new video for Heartless.

It uses a process called rotoscoping where artists take regular video film footage and basically trace and draw each image frame by frame.

I thought it was interesting that Heartless has a bunch of the scenes rotoscoped in Kanye’s real house.  (Check out more pictures of his place in Interior Design Mag.)  The picture on the above left is a rotoscope of the picture on the right- a shot taken inside one of the rooms in Kanye’s Los Angeles house.

Interesting that Kanye’s vintage Damier trunk came rotoscoped borderline Azur!  And maybe the artist’s a vegetarian?  Notice that one of my mom’s old favorites Campbell’s “Hot Dog Bean” soup was replaced by Vegetable!

This is giving me serious junior high flashbacks!!!

Stephen Sprouse passed away in 2004, but is he going to let a little obstacle like death get in the way of releasing blockbuster designs?  Not Sprouse!

So once again, Marc Jacobs is acting in his proxy.  He’s bringing back the classic 2001 Louis Vuitton Graffiti line- but this time in Glow in the Dark orange, pink and green.  Read more about which pieces are making the day-glo cut in Excess Baggage.  (Notice his speculation that the kicks in the picture above might be the product of the much anticipated Kanye West’s LV men’s shoe collaboration.  Looks perfect for his Glow in the Dark Tour!)

Can’t wait to see the limited to one SS X LV skateboard deck and case which will be auctioned off for charity!

Anyway, you don’t have to wait long to pick up your own Louis Vuitton day-glo piece!  The line’s coming out January 9, 2009 in conjunction with the Deitch “Rock on Mars” Sprouse retrospective exhibition.

Check out the mosaic flooring outside and out in the “Louis Vuitton Master Suite” of this “Villa La Grande Maison des Etoiles” that just sold for a record breaking $39 Million!

It’s a 7 bedroom villa with not only serious ocean views, and several pools, but it has bedrooms designed in tribute to Louis Vuitton and Hermes.

Louis Vuitton has a policy against doing work like this… they don’t do interior design or furniture.  As Patrick-Louis Vuitton, explained, “We are in the business of movement.”  But, somehow, I don’t think LVMH will mind.  They seem picky about who they let make unauthorized use of their logos, and who they don’t.  (Think Kanye West and Ruben Studdard’s monogram CD cases.  Both unauthorized (KW’s was years before he began working closely with LV) but only Studdard got sued.)

Do you remember reading that?

I mean, this one’s right on the heels of Louis Vuitton’s Rei Kawakubo/CDG collaboration, as well as the announcement of the mash-up they’re doing with shoes & Kanye West.

But it looks like Sofia Coppola will be their latest partner.  WWD is reporting that Louis Vuitton is working with Sofia on a line of shoes and bags.  Her stuff will launch in Japan, but will be available worldwide.

There’s no doubt that Marc Jacobs loves her.  She’s famously regarded as his muse.  I love this Marc Jacobs quote about her:

“She is young and sweet and beautiful… the epitome of this girl I fantasize of.”

We’ll see.

Kanye just blogged that he’s been waiting a year and a half for his Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Christopher backpack.  (He already has one in the traditional Monogram Toile).

I caught this article from the blog The Luxist.  “Can Fanny Packs be Luxurious?”

Honestly, my first thought was of the picture of Kanye West at Paris Fashion Week in late June wearing his Louis Vuitton Monogram Pochette Belt 40, ($480 on Eluxury).  As an aside– Notice LV steers away from the name “Fanny Pack” probably partly because of the “nerdy” connotations- and partly because in the UK, the word “Fanny” does not mean what it does here in the US, but refers instead to a very special part of the female anatomy!

Anyway… regardless of the prominence of the Fanny Pack in Weird Al Yankovic’s “White and Nerdy” video- or maybe because of it… it’s impossible to ignore the fact that  Fanny Packs are making a comeback.

(Emily on the ferry to France with her Louis Vuitton Bosphore Bum Bag) I actually think it might have something to do with absolutes.  Take the most geeky, utilitarian accessory  you can come up with (besides the infamous pocket protector of course) and then make a Luxe, Designer version of it.  (Think Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci- and Luxist has some images of other $300- $400 fanny packs).

Personally, I’ve always secretly wanted to wear fanny packs.  My sister, Emily (above) calls her Louis Vuitton Bosphore Bum Bag (LV Fanny Pack!), her “Disneyland Bag“… because she loves the fact that she can carry her wallet, cellphone, lipgloss and a couple other bits, without having to worry about a big bag.  We actually have an authentic pre-owned Louis Vuitton Bosphore Bum Bag listed on eBay right now.  Be sure to check it out!!!

So go ahead… you know you want to… go get yourself a nice little bum bag.  Everybody’s doing it!

(Kanye at Louis Vuitton’s Menswear Spring/Summer ‘08-09, Paris Fashion Weeek last Friday)

Well, we heard the rumors back in early April- and so many people doubted… but it looks like he got it done.  WWD’s scooping that Kanye’s inked a deal with Louis Vuitton to work together on a line of men’s shoes.  He and Pharrell et al have taken this nerd look to a whole new level.  (Basically, think anything Weird Al would don in one of my favorite videos of all time… If you haven’t seen this video, check it out below. It’s a classic and a must!)

I’m really interested in what he’s gonna come up with, aren’t you?
