Johnny was Robbed :)

I’m just loving the Olympics this year! Are you watching? I can’t get enough of US figure skater, Johhny Weir. He’s so much fun to watch on the ice… You can tell he’s having fun- and that’s just a pleasure to behold!  Was he robbed last night, or what? :(   But he’s equally as fun to watch off the ice!  Always drama!

Anyway, I remembered this article that I read a long time ago about what a Fashionnphile he is! It talks about the Louis Vuitton bag he’s carrying- with his Gucci change purse, Louis Vuitton camera case and Balenciaga wallet inside. It’s a fun read!

Love the Louis Vuitton black monogram denim shawl he’s wearing in the picture above- and we’ve got a pre-owned authentic Louis Vuitton monogram shawl that looks very similar on our website right now for about $50 less than retail.  Take a look!

Classying it up at the Apple Tablet Event

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

When I think if the hordes of people that make their annual pilgrimage to the Apple unveiling events, I usually imagine the kids recently dropped off by their moms, killing time playing with magic cards and discussing the latest strategy in World of Warcraft. While watching the live announcement today on Gizmodo, as an admitted Mac geek myself, I saw this image of this cute girl sporting her Louis Vuitton Watercolor Speedy. I’m glad she took this opportunity to class up the place. Via Gizmodo

Bid on our Handbags for Haiti

handbagsforhaiti

It’s hard to know what to do right now- the images we see on TV and the internet of the devastation in Haiti are just heart wrenching.

We thought we’d start out by donating a bag- the Louis Vuitton Monogram Vertical Lockit that we just listed on eBay 100% to the American Red Cross.  We’re also donating 10% of every other bag that we’ve listed on eBay (think Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Bottega Veneta…) this week to the American Red Cross.

We’re doing it on eBay, cause they’ve got a program where they automatically take those funds- and we don’t have to worry about the logistics of getting the money to the right people.  The American Red Cross automatically gets the money at the close of the auctions.

Keep watching our blog- cause I’m going to be adding more information on how you can help out.  We’ll be listing items free of charge (we charge no commission- keep no funds) if you have a luxury pre-owned bag you’d like to donate to the cause….

Louis Vuitton Rodeo Window

Love the window display at the Louis Vuitton boutique around the corner- on Rodeo Drive!  I love the creativity behind these displays.  They always make me think of the part of the Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton documentary where shows some of them put up and being evaluated by- I believe it was Bernard Arnault himself!

Anyway, anything cool up in the windows of the boutiques in your neighborhood?  Take a quick pic on your phone and email it over!  I’d love to post it!!!

Don’t be a knock-off Nigel!

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

How’d I miss this cute little video from Ratatouille!

Remy says, “No, no, no, no, no… Don’t be a knock-off Nigel. Why settle for second best, when you can have the real thing!”

Such a wise little rat! And it so relates to everything: not just pirated DVDs, but handbags as well. It’s a good reminder that you can carry the real thing.

There was a head’s up in the New York Post yesterday that there’s a real problem with Fake Hermes Birkin’s popping up all over the city. It warned:

“Attention, fashionistas: New York is on fake Birkin alert! There’s been a sudden influx of faux Hermes Birkin bags around the city, popping up especially on subways and buses.”

Ladies & Gents, I know the recession has hit hard, but there’s no need to settle. If you love Hermes or Louis Vuitton, or Chanel, or Gucci- whatever… you don’t have to spend full retail to get it- but don’t carry a fake. If you want a deal- get it second hand. Sure, we’d TOTALLY LOVE IT if you bought it from Fashionphile- but if not, search other reputable sellers, on eBay or the web.

Just be careful, and get the real deal!

“Can I give you a hand, Louis?”

Ha! Love the look Amy Adams gives Matthew Goode when she explains to him, “it’s a… Vuitton”. Classic! Gotta see Leap Year- Ireland is amazing and Amy’s too cute! Can’t wait!

vuittoncasinotrunk

For the grand opening of the Macao flagship store, Louis Vuitton came up with some really exclusive, special pieces.  Macao is a a mecca for gaming in the East… so they started out with a no holds barred luxury custom monogram Louis Vuitton Casino Trunk.  You know how I feel about custom trunks!  I’m no gambler- but this is pretty amazing!

Check out the whole spread in ilvoelv.com!

Carrying a Knock-off Causing Political Trouble

elainepaulsevuittonknockoff

Bitou, South Africa DA councillor Elaine Paulse is in some hot water right now for the knock-off handbag she carries.  Apparently, Paulse challenged ANC Mayor Lulama Mvimbi for wasting tax payer money on bodyguards and a fancy BMW X5 he’s driving as his official car.

So now, the ANC secretary of Bitou, Lingo Sulani is claiming that Elaine Paulse’s handbag (the bag pictured above) is an authentic, Louis Vuitton valued at over $2650!  The problem being that Paulse did not declare this valuable gift as the Councillors’ Code of Conduct requires.  Looks like Bitou ANC councillors are going forward with disciplinary proceedings and are trying to get the bag authenticated and appraised.

So Jacquie Myburgh, a columnist for South Africa’s Times and a former fashion magazine editor came out and said “there’s not a single LV monogram in sight, which … is what clearly denotes the coveted Vuitton brand.”  But apparently the ANC wants to bring in “an expert” for an evaluation.

Uhhh, honestly.  Does this one really require an expert?  Ew!  This thing is so clearly fake it’s comical.  It’s almost not even trying.  The closest Louis Vuitton’s come to that style is the Louis Vuitton Monogram Ellipse- and this is a stretch:

louisvuittonellipse

The pattern in the monogram in the knock-off is not anything like what’s in an authentic bag.  The bag that Elaine Paulse carries was obviously inspired by the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram- but it’s so far off, it’s hardly recognizable.

The problem here IMO isn’t the value of the bag- but the idea that anyone- particularly someone in political office would carry a knock-off in the first place.

Ms. Paulse- ditch the fake.  There are so many options out there in that are stylish and economical- but that don’t try to be something they aren’t.

We loaned Eliza Magazine some traditional Louis Vuitton monogram pieces for their Fall issue and I just LOVE what they did with the cover!  This is their Travel Issue- so they have Glee star Jayma Mays featured at Santa Monica’s Museum of Flying.  What an amazing location!   The old school red baron looking plane- with Jayma carrying our vintage Louis Vuitton luggage just looks soooo classic and current!!!  Jayma looks STUNNING- and I just love the whole vibe of the layout!

Do you love it?

LV’s got some new LV!

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Ohhhh… sparkly! Totally love it. Ya can’t throw a rock in Las Vegas without hitting a Louis Vuitton boutique. The video above shows the light show at Louis Vuitton City Center in celebration of the opening of the new Crystals store. This one is the largest in the US and the 5th largest worldwide.

Anyone else need to make a little trip to LV for some LV?
