Hermes Blowing in the Wind

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I love a good window display as much as the next Fashionphile- and you know- there have been some seriously good ones!

But this one from the Maison Hermès Japon has got to be top 5 for me! It was designed by Japanese artist Tokujin Yoshioka and will run from November 11 til January 19, 2010.  I Tweeted some pictures from the display that I loved a while ago- but just found this video!

It's just elegant, and expressive and amazing! Check it out!

Louis Vuitton’s answer to the Swine Flu?

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Remember these Louis Vuitton mesh scarf/masks on Richard Prince's gorgeous nurses?  Ha!  I'll bet there are tons of you guys walking around LA right now with those obnoxious surgical masks on, who would love to wear one of these!

Why go cheesy?

When you can go glam!

In all seriousness... if you're into sterility over style, then a scarf (or non-disposible mask) isn't the answer.  Apparenlty, you'd need to wear a new one every day- or at least a clean one.  That could end up being very expensive if your masks are authentic LV!

Getty Balthazar Monogramouflage Scarf

No more dinner at the Ivy.  Looks like Sienna's ex- Balthazar Getty is going the for the traditional bachelor style dinner- pizza.  But, is he all wrapped up in Sienna's Takashi Murakami for Louis Vuitton Monogramouflage scarf as well?

Everyone knows that Sienna loves a good scarf- and they seem to catch on with the men in her life as well.  Remember Rhys Ifan borrowing her Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse Scarf when they were dating?  Hmmm... wonder if she ever got it back?

TI Louis Vuitton Release Party(T.I. at his T.I. vs T.I.P. release party at LV Lenox Mall last year)

Looks like Louis Vuitton and Gucci didn't appreciate the exposure they were getting from the video for T.I.'s "Swing Ya Rag". In fact, they claimed infringment and put the kibosh on the whole thing...

The lyrics are all about "Louis" and "Gucci".  The chorus:

"Alright, okay, I don't dance, no way
I just take my Louis rag out and wave it round in the air
Take my Gucci rag out and wave it round in the air"

TI Swing Ya Rag Louis Vuitton(This is a screenshot from the making of the "Swing ya Rag" video.)

TI said about the song:

"It's self explanatory.  It's about swinging your Gucci rag or your Louis rag.  And, you know, I think I introduced that, I think I introduced that fashion trend to the world.  I do believe I was the first one, man you know what I'm saying, to tie a Gucci rag to my beltloop, man... match with your shirt... let it match with your shoes.  I do believe, if I'm not mistaken.  But. You know basically man, what we're going to with it man, we're going to represent the influence of Gucci and Louis Vuitton to the hood.  Not the influence that it has in Hollywood, we're all familiar with that.  I'm talking about the influence that Louis Vuitton and Gucci has had to the hood.  You know what I'm saying. When we wear it, how we wear it and why we wear it."

Tip (who along with Swizz Beatz produced the video) said to MTV:

"We did it, and it came out hot, Louis [Vuitton] and Gucci started trippin' about it. They were saying we were infringing, in one way or another. They weren't happy about it. They didn't want it to come out. "

So, it's not coming out.  And the blogs are ablaze about why LV lets some videos go, and others not.

All I have to say is- whether you're from the 'hood or the 'wood... we'd love to sell you some "rags"!  We've always got a great variety of pre-owned, authentic Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Gucci, Chanel- you name it scarves & bandanas.  Be sure to check it out!

Marc Jacobs Pays for “Plagairized” Scarf

Marc Jacobs Plagiarized Scarf Linsell

Well... you read the story before. It looks like 55 year old Swede, Göran Olofsson, has been paid in compensation for the scarf that Marc Jacobs "plagairized". The scarf had been designed and created by Olofsson's father in the 1950s, and MJ's scarf was pretty much an exact copy. Göran apparently wrote Jacobs a couple emails inquiring about the scarf. Looks like they've come to an agreement:

"Olofsson said he would prefer not to reveal the “cash amount” promised to him after he had written a number of emails to the celebrity designer demanding an explanation. 'We have reached an agreement. It all took quite a long time but I am happy with how it has worked out.'"

I'll bet he is!  I'm just wondering exactly how happy!

You can read more about it here and here. You'd think that MJ would be more sensitive about the whole "counterfeit issue"...

Louis Vuitton scarf Gwen Stephani
(from January "W" Magazine - - - - - from March "V" Magazine)

Loving the new Gwen Stephani spread in the March issue (#52) of V Magazine due March 6 (that's her on the right).

The mags are loving the bondage chic look with this Louis Vuitton scarf. The pic on the left is from Hilary Swank's dark "erotic fashion fantasy" in January's W Magazine. (I know Hilary's got an androgynous beauty- but I'm pretty sure that's not her in the pic. :) )

And of course, who can forget Richard Prince's Nurses:

Still looking to see a layout with this one worn around the neck!

Marc Jacobs doing the “Knocking-off”?

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I mean, what can he say to this one? The man on the right is Göran Olofsson. He grew up in the village of Linsell, Sweden where his father, Gösta ran the village gas station. Apparently, his dad was as much artist as businessman- and produced all types of touristy knick-knacks based on his own paintings- to sell from his shop! What a great story (you can read more about it HERE).

Apparently, he had about 1,000 of these scarves printed out sometime in the 1950's. It bears the name of the village, "Linsell" on the top- and is full of images from the area- the charming little church and local symbols- (including the coat of arms, the two bears and pasque flowers) of the county (Härjedalen).

Anyway, so Göran somehow stumbles upon MJ's scarf- and is obviously recognized it. I mean- it's pretty much an exact replica- except that instead of the village name- the scarf says "Marc Jacobs Since 1984". (Although, I like the border on the original much more). Wow. Very embarrassing- and pretty ironic, if you ask me! (Especially since Louis Vuitton had to apologize for a similar snaffu with the naked ladies just a couple months ago... I blogged about it HERE if you're interested).

So, apparently Göran has written Marc for an explanation. I can't wait to hear it!
