Marc Jacobs and Jason Preston with tattoo

So, word is that Marc Jacobs and Jason Preston broke up (again).

I mean, I can’t blame him- but you know Jason’s gonna miss the perks.

(Insert your own snarky comment here, that picture speaks for itself IMO!)

What I’m going to miss are the fun LV pictures on Jason’s My Space page!

(All the pictures above were from Jason’s page)

(If you’re a voyeur- Marc Jacobs always has some cool pictures on his My Space profile too… who ever said that Marc wasn’t web savvy?)

Who Wears it Better? Hilary Duff or Sara Jessica Parker’s Louis Vuitton Limelight

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Louis Vuitton Limelight Hilary Duff Sara Jessica Parker

It’s interesting because Hilary Duff and Sara Jessica Parker have totally different styles, are different ages, and wear their Louis Vuitton limelight way differently. I mean, it hardly looks like the same bag.

Hilary wears her copper Limelight like a clutch- but folded over and polished.

But, if you didn’t know what you were looking at- you could mistake SJP’s bag for a crumpled up sack.

I like the softness of this light, quilt-y bag- but I personally wouldn’t wear it like that. It’s interesting, because I have several pictures of Sara Jessica Parker with her Limelight- and she wears it in a similar way in all my pics. I mean, it looks like you can not only see all her stuff- but that, it’s gonna tip over and we’re going to see the contents pictured in next weeks US Weekly.

I’m going with Hilary on this one.  I think she looks put together, but also fun, fresh and interesting.  What do you think?

If you’re loving her look- be sure to check out the authentic pre-owned copper Louis Vuitton Limelight that we have listed on eBay right now! It’s a great price for a great piece… take a look!

Louis Vuitton Watercolor Hits eBay

Louis Vuitton auquarelle frame watercolor

(Louis Vuitton Watercolor Aquarelle Frame)

You knew it wouldn’t take long. While just technically launched yesterday, they’re already up on eBay!

And, while I love to promote our own bags (we have a ton of amazing pieces on eBay and on our fashionphile.com website right now- including our own Richard Prince for Louis Vuitton Heartbreak Joke bag), ya gotta hand it to eBoutique! She’s got some killer stuff. Loving seeing the new Richard Prince watercolor bags up.

She’s got the Louis Vuitton Watercolor Aquarelle Frame Speedy pictured above, the Watercolor Aquarelle Papillon, and the Watercolor Jamais. Take a look.

Very cool, indeed.

Worst “how to tell a fake purse” video guide ever…

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

This is hilarious.  I don’t usually critique people’s guides- because the people who write them are usually just trying to help people out.

Expert Village, on the other hand is obviously just trying to make some money (and who isn’t) but how hard would it have been to get some real information (and maybe even a real expert) in the video.

My three favorite lines?  (There are more- this video is a classic!)

1.  After explaining the registration card in a Prada bag, she says,

“So if someone asks you, ‘hey, is this bag real or fake’ you can say, ‘oh, I watched this “how to” video, and yeah, it is real because I have my card!”

2.  After explaining that fake Coach bags have “circles” all over them (not “C’s”)… she shows a simple Coach leather wallet- that is not in the signature (monogram C) style, and says,

“For example, this bag is Coach, but it doesn’t say (sic), have the C’s all the way around it.  So most likely, a boutique (?) is not going to try to imitate this, because they want to try to sell the most fashionable thing.”

3.  In closing, after sharing those two tips (if it has a registration card, it’s real- and any bag that isn’t signature/monogram is real), she says:

”Pretty much, that’s how you tell a real bag from a fake.”

****  Just in clarification:

1.  The paper work that comes with a bag (receipts, tags, registration cards, etc.) is often faked better than the fake bag itself.  I’ve seen receipts with watermarks, and other very close copies. Don’t rely on these items alone for authentication

2.  Counterfeiters don’t discriminate in what they fake.  The rip-off cosmetic bags, wallets, limited edition pieces in monogram, all leather, canvas- you name it.

Louis Vuitton Hong Kong’s Limited Edition…

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Louis Vuitton Gold Miroir Bellevue GM

Well… what do you think.  Louis Vuitton often offers limited edition pieces in the celebration of different events or launches.  The Hong Kong opening was no different.

We’ve got yet another miroir “limited” edition bag- the Gold and Silver Miroir Bellevue PM ($1430) & GM ($1755).

Gold Louis Vuitton Miroir Bellevue

There are a couple pairs of gold and silver shoes…

Louis Vuitton Sequin shoes

Only 20 pairs are being made.  The gold ones are for sale at the Landmark store- the Silver at Canton Road for a mere $3400.

Hong Kong Louis Vuitton Ursula Strass

… Some sunglasses.  These are called Ursula Strass.  Only 300 are being made- and they’ll cost you less than the Millionaires at least: $550.

Nitrolicious has pictures of more shoes, some funky gold pants- and my favorite, the men’s damier hot pants.  What’s there not to love about that? :)

Louis Vuitton, Hong Kong

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Hong Kong Louis Vuitton Boutique Canton Road

Just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it. It should. Louis Vuitton is opening its flagship store in the famous shopping Canton Road. It’s the largest in the world, outside of Paris.

It’s HUGE! Four levels- 1749 square meters. That’s 18,826.23 square feet! What a fantastic way to get a workout… walk laps, do stairs. Who needs the gym?

I’m dying to see it. I’ll post pictures of Friday night’s opening celebration as soon as I get them. Kanye West, Chow Yun Fat, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Marc Jacobs and Chinese Supermodel Du Juan were there.

This Woman Really Loves Her Purse…

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Must have been an LV!

I know it’s not a good idea, but I definitely have a few favorite bags- that, placed in the same circumstances, I’d probably hold on just as tight!

Amazing footage.  The woman kept her bag- and although was probably totally freaked out, came out relatively unscathed.

Did You Know? Where the Louis Vuitton Heartbreak got it’s name?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Louis Vuitton Heartbreak Richard Prince

Richard Prince is an interesting character. It’s really strange how much he lets us into his bizarre little world through his art- and now through his collaboration with Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. What can I say, he creeps me out, I’ve said that before- but maybe I’ll go into that another time.

For now, I thought I’d blog a bit about some of the inspiration behind some of his pieces. In this post, I thought I’d blog about where he gets his names…

So here we have the Richard Prince for Louis Vuitton Heartbreak. That’s my sister above wearing it. It’s a nice big tote- and you can wear it that way or with the sides clipped together to form a more triangular shape. You can see more pictures on our LV Richard Prince Heartbreak here on our website.

People Magazine Style Watch this month (March) picked the Heartbreak as one of it’s “Star Picks”

Anyway… if you didn’t know that Richard Prince had a thing for Nurses before the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2008 fashion show- you do now!

Richard Prince Louis Vuitton Nurses Spring Summer 2008

So, RP has been “into” nurses for a while now. He collects several specific genres of paperback pulp fiction. Honestly, I will be the first to admit- I’m kind of a prude, but these books are all tacky at the best, but often sleazy (IMO). We’re talking Harlequins, Lesbian Pulp Fiction, and other “Adult” fiction. I will also freely admit that many of the covers have a very cool, enticing stylized effect.

Anyway… so one genre that Prince is into… is “naughty nurse” paperbacks. Yep, I did not know they existed. But, there are hundreds of them- maybe even thousands, and they started back in the ’50s. Richard Prince apparently has a pretty interesting collection of them. (This woman has a huge collection if you want to browse- again, the covers are really interesting!)

Heartbreak Nurse book Richard Prince Painting

So, above left, we have Jane Converse’s 1968, nurse paperback fiction- “Heartbreak Nurse”. Above right, you’ll find Richard Prince’s 2002 “Heartbreak Nurse” in ink jet print and acrylic on canvas). But wait, Richard Prince’s Heartbreak Nurse doesn’t look a thing like Jane’s does… Take a look:

Richard Prince Louis Vuitton Nurses Paperback

Above left, we have another one by Jane Converse. This one, the 1965 “classic”, “Nurse Forrester’s Secret”. Compare Nurse Forrester to RP’s Hearbreak Nurse…

Richard Prince Sampling Nurse Fiction

So, basically… Prince takes real vintage book that retailed for about 25 cents, and literally copies it. He transfers the book covers, changes the colors, ditches the guy, switches a nurse from one book- and sticks her over there. He then throws on a surgical mask, maybe bleeds the lipstick through it and vualahe sells it for $6.09 million!

Brilliant.

Richard Prince Vuitton Hearbreak

I’ll talk more about “appropriation art”- and a ton of more stuff that relates to Richard Prince and his collaboration with Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton in later posts. For now- if you’re into what he does and want to spend less than $6.09 mil to get some Richard Prince art of your own- take a look at our Richard Prince for Louis Vuitton Heartbreak bag! It’s a bargain in comparison!

Louis Vuitton’s Monogramouflage: What you need to know.

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

(Takashi Murakami’s DOB Camouflage 2000)

Who knows what the heck Murakami’s new Monogram Camouflage or Monogramouflage or Monouflage or Monoflage (I’ve seen it spelled all three ways!) is going to look like. The picture above is a Murakami Camo- but his Louis Vuitton collaboration will be a camo line in Monogram- so we’ll just have to see. All we can be sure of right now is that it’s going to be hot!

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. The @Murakami Exhibit that I’ve blogged about ad nauseum will open to the public at the Brooklyn Museum on April 5
  2. Louis Vuitton will again “open shop” there.
  3. There will be multicolor monogram handbags and small leather goods
  4. There will be limited edition art canvasses also for sale that feature the new “Monogramouflage” design
  5. At the museum, they will be previewing this new Louis Vuitton collection the night of the April 3 Gala
  6. Murakami also promised, “I will be introducing new characters”
  7. The line will then launch at the Brooklyn store beginning June 1
  8. This line will be sold at a select number of Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide starting June 15
  9. At the Gala, in addition to a performance by Kanye West, there will be a special performance in an effort to raise awareness of the international problem of counterfeits…

Very interesting indeed and wouldn’t miss it!
