Leighton's dress may look backwards to me... but sweet choice in bags! Our Gossip Girl showed up at a special screening of her costar Sebastian Stan's new film Spread in East Hampton, New York carrying a piece from one of my favorite lines... the Slim Suede Coal clutch from Sofia Coppola's Louis Vuitton collection. I totally love this piece with the dark suede and contrasting gold lambskin trim.
Anyone can wear it- and Leighton pulls it off beautifully, but doesn't Sofia just look natural with it in her arms. The SC bags really are an extension of her... and looks like Leighton's a big fan. At the airport just before the Teen Choice Awards- she's carrying the Louis Vuitton Suede Asphault SC bag as well! (Check out that link- cause JJ has some amazing pics of Leighton at the TCAs!)
Well, 15% off at least all purchases made on their www.louisvuitton.com website on April 22 will be donated to The Climate Project (no mention of Eluxury.com which makes some sense, since LV is phasing off of sales on eLuxury.). President and CEO of Louis Vuitton North America, Daniel Lalonde said:
"We are thrilled to collaborate with The Climate Project and promote environmental awareness in honor of Earth Day. Over the past few years Louis Vuitton has voluntarily made efforts to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. In addition we are proud to be able to support The Climate Project in its inspiring quest to raise awareness of the climate crisis."
Louis Vuitton's been involved with The Climate Project since 2007 when they began donating as part of the Core Values Campaign. Along with the fab Annie Leibovitz Core Values spots so far, LV has donated in the name of Catherine Deneuve, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Keith Richards, Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola, Sean Connery and coming soon... Buzz Aldrin?
Looks like star of the next "Core Values" Louis Vuitton Journey spot has been chosen. They picked another oldie (but goodie!), Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon! Annie Leibovitz is doing the shoot, and they are headed out to a desert somewhere in the US for the setting. Apparently, he's gonna be pictured with astronauts Jim Lovell and Sally Ridge.
Notice the trend here since the Aggassis? Catherine Deneuve (1943), Gorbachev (1931), Keith Richards (1943), Sean Connery (1930), Francis Ford Coppola (1939)- ok, so Sofia was in the shot too... and she's clealy young since she's just a year older than me and finally, the youngster of the bunch, Madonna (1958).
I don't know about you, but I'm excited for the March release of the SC from Sofia Coppola's collaboration with Louis Vuitton.
The SC bag is Sofia's modified Speedy. She's added a shoulder strap, and the handle has a longer drop but what I like is the extended zipper. We often get feedback that the Speedy is difficult to get in and out of- because of the short zipper. It also has a cell pocket, and a slot for a mirror and credit cards.
I love these new pics... and be sure to read the following for more detailed information and pics:
When Sofia Coppola went to design the bag she was doing for Louis Vuitton- she just went for what she loved in a bag- but couldn't find. A simple bag- that wasn't too slouchy or structured... in colors other than black. She went through a bunch of sketches before finally coming up with the "SC"... basically revisiting the traditional Louis Vuitton Keepall- but in a smaller day bag size.
She also came up with this cute little envelope style evening bag! Apparently, she had so much fun with the whole thing, she's already thinking of doing a smaller version of the SC.
"Coppola was inspired by a trip to Louis Vuitton's original home in Asnières, on the outskirts of Paris. Working with the special order department, she took up the challenge of designing 'the perfect bag that doesn't exist.'"
"Coppola wanted a day bag that was "chic, discreet and lightweight and that isn't enormous," adding that "it is hard to find bag without a lot of hardware." She opens the roomy bag (selling in the monogram version at €1,600, or about $2,190), showing how there is an open pocket enabling her to grab her telephone. The evening clutch (€800), with its pochette containing a mirror, is "a thing I wanted for myself."
The article also says that they decided on calling the bag SC, partially because it was hard to find a name that wasn't registered. There was already a "Sofia" Marc Jacobs bag.
Anyway, excited to see it IRL and in monogram. It looks big, and roomy- soft and versatile. I like a nice big simple bag.
I mean, this one's right on the heels of Louis Vuitton's Rei Kawakubo/CDG collaboration, as well as the announcement of the mash-up they're doing with shoes & Kanye West.
But it looks like Sofia Coppola will be their latest partner. WWD is reporting that Louis Vuitton is working with Sofia on a line of shoes and bags. Her stuff will launch in Japan, but will be available worldwide.
The whispers are that Louis Vuitton has picked original 007, Sean Connery to glam for Annie Leibovitz’s cam in its latest "Core Values" campaign.
You remember the campaign... the one that featured Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola just a few months ago, and got major buzz from spots with Keith Richards and Mikhail Gorbachev in the past?
It isn't coming up on the US site yet, but you can take a sneak peek on Louis Vuitton Japan.
I really do love that Louis Vuitton is getting back to what made it a great company- the focus on travel- the "Journey".
This is the most recent installment of Louis Vuitton's Core Values Campaign. LV/Marc Jacobs have pulled together a Motley Crew for these spots. We've been graced with learning more from Louis Vuitton on the Journey's of Keith Richards, Steffi Graf, and Andre Agassi so far, are Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola.
