Well, here’s the first glimpse of Sofia Coppola’s Louis Vuitton “SC” bag.

From a great article today from IHT:

“Coppola was inspired by a trip to Louis Vuitton’s original home in Asnières, on the outskirts of Paris. Working with the special order department, she took up the challenge of designing ‘the perfect bag that doesn’t exist.’”

“Coppola wanted a day bag that was “chic, discreet and lightweight and that isn’t enormous,” adding that “it is hard to find bag without a lot of hardware.” She opens the roomy bag (selling in the monogram version at €1,600, or about $2,190), showing how there is an open pocket enabling her to grab her telephone. The evening clutch (€800), with its pochette containing a mirror, is “a thing I wanted for myself.”

The article also says that they decided on calling the bag SC, partially because it was hard to find a name that wasn’t registered.  There was already a “Sofia” Marc Jacobs bag.

Anyway, excited to see it IRL and in monogram.  It looks big, and roomy- soft and versatile.  I like a nice big simple bag.

Do you remember reading that?

I mean, this one’s right on the heels of Louis Vuitton’s Rei Kawakubo/CDG collaboration, as well as the announcement of the mash-up they’re doing with shoes & Kanye West.

But it looks like Sofia Coppola will be their latest partner.  WWD is reporting that Louis Vuitton is working with Sofia on a line of shoes and bags.  Her stuff will launch in Japan, but will be available worldwide.

There’s no doubt that Marc Jacobs loves her.  She’s famously regarded as his muse.  I love this Marc Jacobs quote about her:

“She is young and sweet and beautiful… the epitome of this girl I fantasize of.”

We’ll see.

The whispers are that Louis Vuitton has picked original 007, Sean Connery to glam for Annie Leibovitz’s cam in its latest “Core Values” campaign.

You remember the campaign… the one that featured Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola just a few months ago, and got major buzz from spots with Keith Richards and Mikhail Gorbachev in the past?

Well, I guess this confirms the rumor.

The Times Online Fashion Department asked Sophia why she agreed to do the Annie Leobovitz X Louis Vuitton Core Values- Journeys ad spot with her father Francis Ford Coppola:

I liked the ad Annie shot with Keith Richards. It was flattering to be asked. Plus I’ve known Marc Jacobs since I was 18. We had mutual friends and started hanging out together. I remember asking my mom to take me to see Perry Ellis when he was designing there. I still have a box of clothes from that grunge collection somewhere. It’s great to work with Annie - she did a good portfolio on the set of Marie Antoinette. She just selects one picture and then shows it to you. But I think that’s good. My dad and I were both like, yeah, whatever you want, this is your shoot. On your own set you want it exactly your own way, but we can get with someone else’s vision too.

Obviously I love Marc Jacobs and Acne jeans which I wear all the time. Today I’m wearing a little knitted dress from See by Chloé, flat wedges from Louboutin. Really I should be wearing Vuitton, but I’m actually not that into status, although I have a little LV duffle bag that I travel with.

As we’ve known since back in April… there’s major buzz going around that Annie Lebovitz was down in Argentina shooting Sofia and her Francis Ford Coppola for the upcoming Core Values/ Journey’s Campaign for Louis Vuitton.

Well, at the Louis Vuitton blogger’s breakfast last Thursday, The Director of Advertising, Eric Lichtmess revealed that a “couple” would be featured in the next instillation of the Journey’s Campaign.

So the bloggers may have gotten a hot new tip- and there’s another couple up the pike (they already did an amazing spread on Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff).

Or… Sofia and Francis Ford are the “couple”.

Was Lichtmess just trying to make our bloggers feel “in the loop”, when he’s already dished out the real scoop to Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, WWD and other more mainstream media outlets over a month ago?

Hmm… Only time will tell.
