Check out the mosaic flooring outside and out in the "Louis Vuitton Master Suite" of this "Villa La Grande Maison des Etoiles" that just sold for a record breaking $39 Million!
It's a 7 bedroom villa with not only serious ocean views, and several pools, but it has bedrooms designed in tribute to Louis Vuitton and Hermes.
Louis Vuitton has a policy against doing work like this... they don't do interior design or furniture. As Patrick-Louis Vuitton, explained, “We are in the business of movement." But, somehow, I don't think LVMH will mind. They seem picky about who they let make unauthorized use of their logos, and who they don't. (Think Kanye West and Ruben Studdard's monogram CD cases. Both unauthorized (KW's was years before he began working closely with LV) but only Studdard got sued.)
And when they aren't jet-setting, they'd look amazing as part of your home decor...
Here they are all wrapped up in their covers...
And all wide open for the world to see... (great drawers/trays in the Alzers)!
Honestly, a real bargain at $19,500. (The monogram Alzer 80 alone for $5800!) These have never been traveled with- they're just stunning. Check out more pictures her on our fashionphile.com website, or come by for a viewing.
OK, I know it's disappointing that Louis Vuitton didn't come up with any Limited Edition items that were "special" for the Brooklyn Museum Exhibit- but check out what they are releasing for the Louis Vuitton Classic, China Run 2008!
This is an amazing set of limited edition monogram pieces. (You know how I feel about a little color/customization on traditional monogram or damier! LOVE it!) We've got the Keepall 55, a fab monogram Naviglio, a Zippy Organizer wallet, some sweet leather driving shoes, and of course a killer pair of retro lunettes! Here's the logo you'll find on those items:
Louis Vuitton loved cars. I guess it's a guy thing. And of course, Louis Vuitton tries to work with any vehicle of transportation. The Louis Vuitton Classic has been around since 1989. There is a pretty cool "flash" presentation on the History of Louis Vuitton and the Classic on their website.
(Louis Vuitton Classic China Run 1998)
The last Louis Vuitton Classic in China was 10 years ago- in 1998. This year, the Classic will run from May 23 until June 1, in China.
Louis Vuitton has negotiated a special First Class travel package. Book your trip here!
As you well know- I love the history and meaning behind so much of what comes out of Louis Vuitton. This is what I find timeless about the brand in general.
I'd been wanting to write about the history about the striped Tanger- and in my search for images actually found another great blog entry on the same subject in the Excess Baggage blog by Deluxe Duck... be sure to check it out!
(The personal bag of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, 1901 from Pasol's, Louis Vuitton)
(An early prototype of the Keepall- 1930, again with Gaston's initial, from Pasol's, Louis Vuitton)
The Louis Vutton striped Tanger Sac Plat borrows it's central, geometric "V" initial from Gaston's early monogram. It has the red center on the V on a white background. Mini Lin Tanger Sac Plat bags (Ebene and Camel) will borrow the blue center, with light blue- not white.
The unique striped fabric that makes up the exterior of this particular Sac Plat is reminiscent of early trunk lining. (You'll find similar striped linings in the Sac Trianon line- and including the Trianon Neverfull.
The striped Tanger Sac Plat is no longer available in stores. It was a S/S 2005 men's bag- so they're hard to get your hands on. Lucky for you, we happen to have one of these amazing limited edition pieces on eBay right now!
Well, you learn something new every day! I always thought "the Holy City" was Jerusalem, but apparently Charleston, South Carolina has the same nickname!
Well... you read the story before. It looks like 55 year old Swede, Göran Olofsson, has been paid in compensation for the scarf that Marc Jacobs "plagairized". The scarf had been designed and created by Olofsson's father in the 1950s, and MJ's scarf was pretty much an exact copy. Göran apparently wrote Jacobs a couple emails inquiring about the scarf. Looks like they've come to an agreement:
"Olofsson said he would prefer not to reveal the “cash amount” promised to him after he had written a number of emails to the celebrity designer demanding an explanation. 'We have reached an agreement. It all took quite a long time but I am happy with how it has worked out.'"
I'll bet he is! I'm just wondering exactly how happy!
You can read more about it here and here. You'd think that MJ would be more sensitive about the whole "counterfeit issue"...
I know it seems that I've posted about this again and again and again... but it's pretty dang interesting to me. I also want to make sure I put stuff up when I'm not seeing it other places.
This is an awesome "behind the scenes" video of the Keith Richards/ Annie Leibovitz photo shoot for Louis Vuitton.
