Price slashed on the Yacht with the Louis Loo

Candyscape Yacht Louis Vuitton Lavatory

Yep, the Candyscape was listed at $19.5 million- and is now on sale for a bargain $16.25 million.  If that’s too rich for your blood, it charters for $225,000 or $190,000 (gulp) a week during the low season!

The bathroom of this vessel is lined with what is listed as the “leather” from antique Louis Vuitton trunks.  It appears to me that the canvas may be from old trunks.  The leather and hardware doesn’t look original.  Either way, this “huge discount” is supposed to be a sign of the effect of the credit crunch on the valuation of luxury yachts.

I think we’re in the wrong business!

Louis Vuitton Cake Trunk

Forget cake!  (Although, as you see above, Louis Vuitton has made special order trunks especially for transporting cakes!)

In these desperate times- I love the sentiment.  I mean, Louis Vuitton only does special order trunks for things (or critters) that need to be moved.  So next time your friends are getting together for hors d’oeuvres, you’ll be able to haul your finest Almas Caviar along in its own custom fitted Louis Vuitton Taiga Carrying Case (complete with serving spoon, plates, and individual caviar spoons).  Again, as the market continues to sour, Louis Vuitton clearly says, “what economic meltdown?”

As long as we’re talking decorating with Louis Vuitton

Friday, July 25th, 2008

You know the Seinfeld episode where they talked about Bad Naked?  Well my last blog post pretty much talked about Bad Decorating with LV.

Even though authentic Louis Vuitton monogram throw pillows look tasteful on a simple couch at a LV Boutique- the same pillow on the same couch in a home just would not look classy.   IMO unless it’s vintage, travel oriented, or an interesting collectible (think LV monogram soccer ball on a book shelf in a traditional home library or a framed scarf), monogram just has no place in any decorating scheme unless you’re working for the company.

I’ve blogged a ton about how amazing and interesting Louis Vuitton CAN look in a house, apartment or office. Look for my old posts on Kanye’s Office and entry way, Eva Longoria’s closet, and Tommy Hilfiger’s living room, to name a few.  But here are a couple more recent examples…

This one was from March/April’s Mountian Living Magazine.  It’s a den in Christopher Coffin’s (Christopher K. Coffin Design) home.  See the table trunk on the lower left?  That is actually one of John F. Kennedy’s old Louis Vuitton monogram suitcases.  Gorgeous.  It is such an interesting addition to the room- totally adds to the overall look.  (As does the Hermes throw on the leather chair beside it :) )  A what a fantastic conversation piece.

Christopher Coffin Suitcase

And the Napa Valley, getaway retreat of the inspiring Ken Fulk was profiled in House Beautiful this month- July 2008.  I love his Louis Vuitton vintage suitcase stack, side table!

I love it!  If you do too… check out the Louis Vuitton Damier set that we have right listed on eBay right now that would look incredible in any decorating situation!

Damier Hard Cases

We’ve got other pieces that would also look great… like the Louis Vuitton Monogram Alzer 70, Monogram Alzer 80, and the Monogram Boite Flacons beauty case.  I need a picture of those three in a stack!!!

Kanye West's Azur Hard Case

I really wish I could get a look at this. Someone sent me a little head’s up that the $7150 Alzer hard case that Louis Vuitton gave Kanye West for his 30th birthday last year may have some cool custom paint. I’m pretty sure the image above is on the case. It’s Kanye’s Graduation Bear with a LV monogram shirt.

Here’s the album cover that our very own Takashi Murakami did for Kanye…

Kanye's Graduation Album

Kanye must have a thing for bears… I saw the bottom half of the fabulous Louis Vuitton teddy bear pictured by his on his KanyeUniverstiy blog:

The Louis Vuitton gifted case is probably one of the Azur stack Kanye’s got in the entryway of his home:

(And as an aside, what’s not to love about Kanye’s painted bronze Hermes shopping bag sculpture by Jonathan Sigler.)

Dwight Yoakham- who knew?

Dwight Yoakam Louis Vuitton Blame the Vain

Well, I’ve never been much of a country music person (unless my childhood John Denver phase counts-)… so I have never really heard much of Dwight Yoakam.  But I gotta say, I’m totally feeling the “Blame the Vain” CD.  Or at least, I should say- the CD cover!

He’s got a whole schlew of vintage Louis Vuitton French Company vintage luggage, including suitcases, a cosmetic case, and a couple other cool pieces that I’d love to get a better look at.  But, my absolute favorite is- the vintage monogram Louis Vuitton Hat Box.

I do think it’s kind of cool that it’s French Company for LV luggage- because the French Company stuff was made in the USA for Louis Vuitton.  (Read my guide for more information on Louis Vuitton X French Company- I’m updating right now, so stay tuned!!!)  I just think that makes so much more sense that a country and western singer would have vintage American made Louis Vuitton on his CD case than luggage made in France- (although the folks putting this thing together probably didn’t even know).

Anyway, if you’ve had your eye out for a fabulous vintage Louis Vuitton Hatbox just like the one on Dwight’s cover- it’s your lucky day, my friend!!!

French Company Louis Vuitton Hat Box

We’ve got a beautiful pre-owned authentic vintage Louis Vuitton monogram Hat Box listed on our fashionphile.com website right now.  Take a look.  These are so hard to get your hands on in condition like this.  It’s a real bargain at $1845!

Now all Dwight needs is to get himself a custom Louis Vuitton Guitar Case like the one Keith Richards scored for his Journey’s spot, ahhh…. another sweet piece!

We’re with Lindsay Lohan: Buy Second Hand!

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Lindsay Lohan VIsa
(Lindsay Lohan in a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk and second hand clothes for one of the Visa Swap spots)

I mean, we did say it first… But it’s cool that Lindsay’s saying it at all: go ahead, buy second hand!

Last year Visa launched it’s “Visa Swap” program. You bring in your old, but still nice clothes and bags, and shoes to the Visa Swap Pop-up shop in London’s Covent Garden during June and July.

You get points for what you bring in. The more hot the item, the more points you get. Then you get an opportunity to spend these points buying cool second hand items that other people have brought in.

The idea is to bring awareness to the Triad Charities and encourage the environmentally friendly practice of buying second hand.

We here at FASHIONPHILE whole heartedly agree :) We’ve been told that we’re the Best Kept Secret in Beverly Hills. Our buyers love to buy amazing authentic luxury bags from us- but don’t always tell everyone where they got them (or that they are second hand), and that’s fine by us!!!

I don’t know what to say… I’m just so freaking in love with this set. I’ve sold a ton of amazing things in my life in this business, but this set of authentic Louis Vuitton Damier Bisten & Alzer trunk style hard suitcases is right up there at the top!

They’re great for travel…

Louis Vuitton Book Encyclopedia Trunk

(from www.vintageluggage.net)

Uh, yeah… with Wikipedia and Google, who needs an Encyclopedia?

I guess, I do, if it comes with this amazing monogram Louis Vuitton custom circa 1900 antique book trunk.

Kanye West Harper's Bazaar

OK… that last blog entry reminded me of something I noticed while checking out Kanye’s Harper’s Bazaar spread. You remember the picture above, right?

Well, of course, the stack of Louis Vuitton hardcases caught my eye. But there’s one particular piece that stuck out… right below the Louis Vuitton Azur Boite on top. Do you see it?

Interesting, hug? Well, I thought this shot was even more interesting…

I’d love to see the interior. Oh, how I love Louis Vuitton special order!

Did you know? The history behind the Louis Vuitton Striped Tanger Sac Plat?

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Louis Vuitton Tanger Sac Plat

As you well know- I love the history and meaning behind so much of what comes out of Louis Vuitton. This is what I find timeless about the brand in general.

I’d been wanting to write about the history about the striped Tanger- and in my search for images actually found another great blog entry on the same subject in the Excess Baggage blog by Deluxe Duck… be sure to check it out!

Louis Vuitton Vintage Steamer
(The personal bag of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, 1901 from Pasol’s, Louis Vuitton)

Louis Vuitton Vintage Keepall
(An early prototype of the Keepall- 1930, again with Gaston’s initial, from Pasol’s, Louis Vuitton)

The Louis Vutton striped Tanger Sac Plat borrows it’s central, geometric “V” initial from Gaston’s early monogram. It has the red center on the V on a white background. Mini Lin Tanger Sac Plat bags (Ebene and Camel) will borrow the blue center, with light blue- not white.

Louis Vuitton Vintage Trunk Striped liniing
(from eBay seller anythingluxury’s vintage Louis Vuitton approx 1885 trunk)

Louis Vuitton striped trunk tanger lining

The unique striped fabric that makes up the exterior of this particular Sac Plat is reminiscent of early trunk lining. (You’ll find similar striped linings in the Sac Trianon line- and including the Trianon Neverfull.

The striped Tanger Sac Plat is no longer available in stores. It was a S/S 2005 men’s bag- so they’re hard to get your hands on. Lucky for you, we happen to have one of these amazing limited edition pieces on eBay right now!

Check out our pre-owned authentic Louis Vuitton striped Tanger Sac Plat. Remember- if you win it and mention that you saw it on my blog- you get free shipping!
