For the grand opening of the Macao flagship store, Louis Vuitton came up with some really exclusive, special pieces. Macao is a a mecca for gaming in the East... so they started out with a no holds barred luxury custom monogram Louis Vuitton Casino Trunk. You know how I feel about custom trunks! I'm no gambler- but this is pretty amazing!

OK... I know- no brainer. But for some of my mayjah chocoholic friends- this question might not be so easy!
Marie Claire posted some of their favorite luxury gifts for the holidays- and one was this $15,000 custom Italian leather trunk from renowned chocolatier MarieBelle.
For $15,000 you can get a fantastic vintage Louis Vuitton or Goyard trunk- in pretty great condition. I'm just not that into straight chocolate. A temptation for me would be a custom Louis Vuitton warming trunk made exclusively for transporting out of the oven chocolate chip cookies!

Oh wow! Louis Vuitton Lover just posted this amazing Louis Vuitton Christmas Chest. It's a special ornament trunk- and I'm just dying over it!
This one's got me picturing little elves in the Louis Vuitton Workshop in Asnieres hammering away at each brass nail- working their hardest to get it done in time for Christmas- (cue your favorite Carol now!) Anyway- apparently there were only five of these things made. Wonder who's been nice this year?
Gosh she's a breath of fresh air! I am totally entertained by Tavi. I totally love that she appreciates fashion, and has killer style- but is so innocent and unaffected (for now- cross fingers) in her approach.

Love the article today in the New York Times about the designer bike thing we've got going on right now. You remember my blog post about the Chanel & Gucci bikes late last year? Then of course we got that crazy fur laden contraption from Fendi a couple months ago... Apparently bike riding is up almost 75% in NYC alone in the last few years.
My dad's been commuting to work on his bike since before I was born- long before it was cool. So, I totally LOVED that the NYT included this amazing picture of LVMH North America Chairman Renaud Dutreil commuting through the streets of NYC on his Black Gazelle!
The whole thing reminded me of this old 1960's picture of a monogram Louis Vuitton bike trunk (above) that I saw a while ago. Isn't this just the kind of thing you'd need if you were going to transport any one of these glamorous new bikes!

Louis Vuitton came up with this custom job to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon on July 20th. It opens up all over the place with little nooks and crannies for basically anything you'd need for that luxurious lunar voyage!!!
Going to be in New York City near Central Park West this week? Drop by the American Museum of Natural History's Rose Center for Earth and Space on Monday where this little gem will be exhibited with other NASA goodies. The stars of Louis Vuitton's new Journey's spot- Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride will be there and they're bringing Daniel Lalonde, Louis Vuitton North America president and CEO along for the ride!!! (Theirs was my FAVORITE of the Journey's spots so far... can't get enough!)

Louis Vuitton claims that trunks are all about motion, but we all know trunks today are all about decoration and organization- or based on the picture of Marc below- recreation?
And I just can't hide it!
OK, that was even cheesier than normal for me, I know! But I always am excited to see old pictures of cool people with vintage Louis Vuitton trunks.
This is the Pointer Sisters in vintage couture, and sitting on top of a fabulous antique Louis Vuitton monogram trunk. You'll find the image on the back of their "That's a Plenty" LP from 1974!

I guess I wasn't blogging back then... so I had a vague recollection of some LV on the cover- but I went to watch Reese Witherspoon's "Sweet Home Alabama" and I'd totally forgotten that she was pictured with such great pieces.
I love Reese. On her upbringing:
"I grew up in Tennessee. We didn't know what Louis Vuitton was. I had to order all my prom outfits out of catalogues"
I love that she still carries her Louis Vuitton Cuir Onatah- one of my personal favs! This picture was taken just a few weeks ago at the Farmer's Market in Santa Monica. Check Gossip Girls for a load more pics.
When I saw the promo for the new Renee Zellweger/ Harry Connick Jr. rom-com, "New in Town"- where Renee's perched on top of a vintage Louis Vuitton monogram garment trunk, you know I was intrigued!!!
But then when I found out that it was about a city girl- Miami Exec (Zellweger) who finds herself on assignment in rural Minnesota, it sealed the deal. Can't wait for this one. Minnesota has a such special place in my heart! I lived there for a couple years and just love the people and the beauty of the land!
