(Comme des Garcons)
Stop the freaking press! Louis Vuitton is collaborating with Comme des Garcons in a MAJOR way! Keep reading…

(Marc Jacobs on a Louis Vuitton Trunk)
(No, Marc isn’t wearing a Comme des Garcons tutu (from what I can tell) and that isn’t Part 1 of the collaboration… it’s an old Jean-Paul Goulde pic for Harper’s Bazaar.)
Louis Vuitton and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons will be opening a store JOINTLY in Japan this September for only three months! It will be a store within the Comme des Garcons shop in Tokyo. The entire Comme des Garcons store on Kottodori, Omotesando has been redesigned for the Vuitton project
During this time six super limited edition bags designed by Kawakubo with her inspired version of the traditional Louis Vuitton monogram will be available for order. Kawakubo will design two new “party bags” along with revamps of two bags that were available when LV first entered Tokyo 30 years ago as well as CDG X LV mashups of two current monogram styles.
The collaboration is partly a celebration of the 30 year anniversary since Louis Vuitton opened in Tokyo.
Marc said of the collaboration and Kawakubo in particular,
“It is impossible to overstate Rei Kawakubo’s influence on modern fashion… I find it wonderful to think that 30 years ago, this immense talent, someone who has inspired so many others, was inspired by Louis Vuitton.”
Can’t wait! Read the whole colorful story from Suzy Menkes at IHT!
