Salvatore Ferragamo is an Italian luxury house founded in 1927 and based in Florence, Italy. The company consists of ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, small accessories, and watches. Salvatore Ferragamo himself established his design career first starting out as an Italian shoe designer. Known for experimenting with different types of exotic leathers, he found success after moving to California. It was there that he opened a shop focusing on designing custom-made shoes for the cinema. In an effort to improve the comfort of his shoes, he enrolled himself in courses at the University of Southern California to study human anatomy. Ferragamo returned to Italy in 1927 and launched his own brand. Coined the “shoemaker of the stars,” today Salvatore Ferragamo is synonymous with creativity, luxury, and beauty. Most notable shoe styles are the Vara Pump and the Cage Heel.
