LV x Murakami is back, but did it ever leave? After a year of anniversary releases in 2025, Louis Vuitton kept the momentum going with Takashi Murakami. The collaboration extended into 2026 with a fresh wave of releases that built on last year’s revival. New bags arrived alongside familiar classics, reigniting Multicolor Madness.

The launch unfolded on January 1 and 2 for the Monogram’s 130th anniversary. Fittingly, nearly everything arrived in White Monogram Multicolor. The 2026 collection brought back the 2025 lineup while introducing new Monogram Multicolor silhouettes, including hauties from the early aughts that were not part of the 2025 revival. (But if you’re a fashionphile, you already know a lot of these bags never left.)

This latest round brought the Monogram Multicolor treatment to the Neverfull MM, which feels both inevitable and overdue. The Slim Trunk, Travel Alma, Mini Bumbag, Petite Malle, Speedy Soft 30, Speedy Trunk 20, Boulogne, Carryall EW, Onthego PM, Lineup, WOC Ivy, Nano Noe, and Pouch Metis belt also received Murakami’s 33-color palette. For those who prefer something quieter than full canvas prints, there were Capucines interpretations in black and baby blue.

Those were not the only starlets. The launch brought back styles from the 2025 revival too, including the Speedy 25 and 30, Alma BB, All In BB, Side Trunk MM, Nano Speedy, and Pochette Accessories. Small leather goods like the Passport, Rosalie, Victorine, and Romy made a comeback as well. Travel pieces followed with the Keepall 45, Cosmetic pouch, Superflat Keepall 45, Courrier Lozine 110, and Malle Pyramide. Finally, the Coussin, Onthego, and Papillon rounded out the release.

In the early 2000s, Takashi Murakami transformed Louis Vuitton’s Monogram into 33 colors across black and white backgrounds. It was the opening act for an iconic partnership that expanded into motifs like Cherry Blossom, Panda, Cerises, and Cosmic Blossom. Flaunted by It Girls like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, the bags became social currency, carrying a cultural moment that never really quieted.
